AKA Petitepammy

I was recruited to be a storytime facilitator for Dramabuds. Dramabuds is a children's workshop company for 3-6yrs that visits schools to encourage children to use their imagination through storytelling and creative play. “Yo, hello, how you doing!” These are the greetings that I got the children to say at the beginning of my Dramabuds weekly sessions. I mainly did this so that the children could introduce themselves to each other and myself, but I also did it because I am bad with remembering names and it was a great way to hear the names again, (well except for the child with the really low voice, that I couldn't hear and had to keep asking them to repeat themselves louder. “Can you say that again, louder? Nope? ok”. “Roger, its Roger” Luckily for me the kids love shouting each others names out for them, so I was saved every time lol! The sessions consisted of : A warm up game (that usually had to do with the theme/story of the day) Musical statues making sounds, of animals, vehicle poses Marching around the room, then doing an action when the music stopped, eg:fairytale theme -When I said Sleeping Beauty, they had to fall asleep on the floor. (This was a great way to get the kids to be quiet lol)! -Prince Charming (They galloped around on a horse) -Evil Queen (Making scary faces) -Cinderella (Scrubbing the floor) etc. After the kids are all warmed up, the story begins. If it was a continuation from the last session, I would re-cap what we did then carry on. But for a new story I introduce the characters and then the adventures would begin, with props and music. I have been through many stories / themes with the kids, Peter Pan, The Mouse Hunt etc. I had fun with all of them and the kids had fun too (well thats what the nursery staff told me). Some of them were shy to say their names or to use their imagination and get lost in the story, but by the end of my time with them this was not a problem. It was also great hearing from the nursery staff, who told me that one of the kids doesn't join in with any other outside visitors, but he always joined in my sessions. This made me feel very proud of myself, because believe me it can be hard to get a child to join in with something new, and keep them interested for 30-45 mins. So I am very proud of that. (Isn't it funny how the reactions of a 3year old can make or break your day!). It was also great when one of the kids whom is slightly autistic, answered his name correctly after a few…

Choir Mj's choir is a group that I joined so that I can use my singing skills again. I miss singing either solo or in a group, so I googled choirs in my area and found MJ's choir, which has been going for years...(how did I not know this before...) Mj has a few choirs Brighton Hastings West London South London (this is the choir that I joined) Eventhough I have a crazy funny personality I do have unconfident moments and I was abit scared about going on my own because I didnt know what to expect, but as I realise sometimes you just have to go for it because you can be pleasantly surprised.... (Feel the fear and do it anyway).. It was a rainy day and I nearly changed my mind (gosh isn't it annoying that its soo easy to talk yourself out of doing things) but then I remembered it was in a hall so “girl” just go....so I did. The 1st session is a free taster to make sure its the right choir for you... (then after it is £20 per month).. When I arrived I was greeted by a lovely lady who asked if I was new and did I sing soprano or alto, (as I have already sung before these words were not foreign to me, sopranos sing the high notes and altos the mid to low notes). My voice can reach the high notes so I opted for soprano... I sat in the back row with some ladies one whose name is Katherine a very nice retired lady.... I also met another lady who is the partner of MJ called Ginny.. They were very friendly to me and made me feel very comfortable. Now I am not great with names and neither are these ladies so they came up with a way to remember which is to link our names with famous people, so they nicked name me Pamela Anderson (no I do not have her famous attributes lol!)... Katherine has been nick named Katherine Hepburn and Ginny is Ginny Weasley (she also happens to have red hair).. This has actually worked and helped me to remember their names and others too... I did not know how many members there were in the choir and did not know what to expect, but when I saw the amount of chairs that had been laid out I was surprised.... Well it turned out to be about 100 people on the day (and the reason I know this is because a register is taken and MJ calls out the number)... We sang a few songs and it felt great singing again with a group.... I had fun at the taster and def returned and am now a fully fledged member of MJ's south london choir.... So just a reminder to everyone out there wanting to try something new....its great to try new things even if its abit scary because usually your imagination is worse than the…
